6. Distortion
Sigma 50-150 mm is a telephoto zoom lens that has small focal length range so it should not have significant distortion. To remind you, we can add that Sigma 70-200 mm we tested some time ago had distortion -0.47%, 0.49% and 0.80% for 70, 135 and 200 mm, respectively.
We expected Sigma 50-150 mm to perform better in this category. For all focal lengths distortion is not big but noticeable. At 50 mm Sigma has barrel distortion equal to -0.66%, which quickly drops to 0% and at about 70 mm becomes pincushion distortion at level of 0.23%. For longer focal lengths pincushion distortion rises - at 100 mm is equal to 1.0% and at 150 mm increases further up to 1.44%.
