That company is known very well not only among photographers. The line-up of Hama products is very wide indeed and they are easily accessible on the market. Let’s check out whether one of their filters has more assets than just its availability.

Design, usage and summary

This filter could have been offered by a certain Swedish furniture company because right after taking it out of the box you have to put it together on your own. A leaflet dropped inside the box left prints on the filter so before we started our test we had to clean it. Despite the lack of coatings it was rather difficult. The ring itself is solid, it moves with an even, moderate resistance and, as the only product in our test, comes with a small lever making the turning easier. The lever can be dismantled if necessary.

All of it is put inside a solid but rather big box. It would be also difficult to call this filter ‘slim’ because in fact it is quite high.

Changeable spectrum characteristics still manage to keep the same level within 10% tolerance range in the visible spectrum. The extinction coefficient is on a very good level of about 4/10000 apart from the blue colour where the result is a bit weaker (but still acceptable). The filter also works in near-infrared.
