10. Autofocus

A journalistic lens has its requirement considering the autofocus system. Canon made an effort to meet these requirements by installing the best available ultrasonic USM motor and we have to say the company accomplished its mission. The autofocus is really quick and silent. In studio conditions it missed in less than 5% - taking into account short focal lengths such a result might give some purist a reason to smack their lips disapprovingly but according to our criteria the result under 5% should be considered as very good. Especially that we didn’t notice any front- or backfocus tendency.
