6. Distortion

Looking at the results of the kit lens substitutes for 16-18 mm focal lengths, with the barrel distortion reaching even as much as –5%, the result of the Canon 16-35 mm at 16 mm, amounting to –2.51% seems rather good. If you want to pick holes in it, you can give an example of a Sigma 17-35 mm which, at 17 mm had a result of only –1.7%.By increasing focal lengths the distortion is eliminated, though. At 25 mm we noted a value of –0.41% and at 35 mm – only 0.19%.
