The new Nikkor, which is rare among cheap „kits”, is equipped with an ultrasonic SWM motor. Because of that fact the autofocus motor moves silently but not very quickly in this case. For instance the Pentax 18-55 mm, although it doesn’t have the ultrasounds, is much quicker (but audibly noisier too).

The accuracy of the autofocus impressed us much – it missed in only 1% of cases and it didn’t have any front or back focus tendencies.
