Sigma 105 mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro

11. Summary

Pros:

• very good picture quality in the middle and at the edge of the field at all apertures,
• excellent control of chromatic aberration,
• negligible distortion,
• very low coma,
• slight astigmatism,
• good performance against bright light,
• sensibly corrected vignetting,
• 3-year-long guarantee (on extra charge you can extend it by next two years)

Cons:

• slow, noisy and averagely accurate autofocus

If only Sigma decided to equip the 2.8/105 lens with an HSM motor we would have a nearly perfect device. Practically everything, concerning this lens, deserves our praise apart from the work of the autofocus. If you can forgive the Sigma such a slip-up you will get an instrument with exceptionally good optical properties.
