6. Distortion

On a smaller APS-C/DX sensor we have noticeable but not very high barrel distortion which value we measured as –1.76%. Taking into account the fact that on this type of detector the lens gives an angle of view of almost 71 degrees, such a distortion correction should be praised here.

If you want to discuss full frame distortion it would be more difficult to quote any numerical value. Officially, it is even lower than the distortion on the APS-C/DX but only because it changes the sign, becoming pincushion on edges of full frame. Looking at the overall picture we deal here with a classic example of moustache distortion. It is more difficult to correct by a graphic program than pincushion or barrel deformations but, as its degree is not high, we don’t always have to correct it after all.

Taking into account wide angles of view, offered by the tested lens, the performance in this category should be assessed positively.
