The image quality on the edge of the frame simply can’t be good if the coma is corrected the way the Pentax 1.9/43 does it. As you can notice looking at the crops below, the coma is monstrous even after stopping down. Full frame corner results? I shudder at the mere thought…

Fortunately the astigmatism is corrected in a much better way – its value amounted to 7.8% which is a good result.
