10. Autofocus

Writing about an autofocus in a lens which, for a good measure, wouldn’t need an autofocus at all is a bit premature. In order not to sound groundless here are some concrete numbers. Even at the maximum relative aperture the focus set at 3 meters guarantees us a sharp image in the range from 1.5 meters to infinity. When we employ the f/5.6 aperture the situation becomes even better because setting the focus at 2 meters makes the depth stretch from 1 meter to infinity. Apart from that the lens features a clear distance scale which helps to chose the right settings of the MF ring.

If you take the lens’s parameters into account it is really hard to speak about the accuracy of the autofocus or any front or back focus tendencies- there are simply no such problems. You should only know that the lens buzzes audibly – like all Limited series devices with a “screwdriver”. The speed should be praised, though – the focus is set really flash quick and running through the whole scale doesn’t even take 0.5 of a second.
