Cons: Slow AF No internal focus, so lenshood turn when focussing Problems with AF when there is less light
Pros: Very sharp Much depht-of-field Lightweight Steel frame Good grip on lens Quick-shift focus Small focussing distance
Summary: This Pentax SMC kitlens is excellent for Amateur photographers, and even for Semi-pro users. It is very sharp and have excellent optical quality, no chromatic abberations and pincushion... I use this lens sinds 2008, and I love it still, I bought a Tamron too, the difference is big!

Cons: Sharpness at 18mm
Pros: Fantastic build quality for a kit lens. I handled with Canon's kit lens a few days ago and it feels like a toy in comparison. This pentax lens is smooth, solid, doesn't wobble. Optical quality is also superb for a kit lens. Well done.
Summary: Best kit lens on the market? I don't know but I would guess it's definitely up there!
