10. Autofocus

The set of the tested lens and the Fuji X-Pro1 camera is equipped with a contrast detection autofocus system. It means the mechanism needs to go beyond the right autofocus position and then return. Despite that fact the autofocus is very fast and the whole process doesn’t last longer than 0.5-0.7 of a second. The autofocus is not noiseless, though – during its work you can hear a slight but noticeable whirr.

The accuracy of the autofocus in the Fujifilm X-Pro is one of its biggest problems. The working tests of that mechanism show it well. In good studio conditions the lens misses constituted 14% of all shots which is a significant result at this price point.

Fortunately the lens didn’t show any front or back focus tendency.
