Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 18-140 mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR

10. Autofocus

The Nikkor AF-S 18–140 mm VR is equipped with an ultrasonic SWM autofocus motor so it is really noiseless. You should also praise the speed – running through the whole distance scale and finding a focus takes never more than 0.3-0.4 of a second, a very good result indeed!

We didn’t have any reservations concerning the accuracy of the autofocus either. In studio condition the set consisting of the Nikkon D7000 and the Nikkor AF-S DX 18–140 mm f/3.5–5.6G ED VR didn’t miss one single time.

When it comes to front or back focus tendencies, the specimen of the tested Nikkor featured the latter – you can notice it well in the crop, shown below.
