6. Distortion

When it comes to the distortion correction the Micro 4/3 system often supports optics with appropriate software. The Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmar 100–400 mm f/4.0–6.3 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. is not an exception to that rule so its distortion level of JPEG files is simply perfect. At 100, 200, 300 and 400 mm we got the following results: +0.17%, +0.09%, +0.04% and +0.03%.

If you look at RAW files developed by independent software you are able to see that, fortunately, there are not many deformations to be corrected. At the same focal lengths as previously we got the following results: +1.14%, +1.11%, +0.91% and +0.82%. It seems the optics itself is quite efficient in correcting this aberration even without the support of the software.
