Older 1.4/50 lenses weren’t instruments completely distortion-free; for some of them that aberration on full frame could reach even −2%. The reflex Samyang 50 mm f/1.4 AS UMC had a similar result.

The Samyang AF 50 mm f/1.4 FE tested here performs exceedingly well in this category, exactly like the best contemporary instruments. Distortion doesn’t have to be corrected by the software of the camera at all because even for RAW files it is negligible. On the APS-C sensor it amounts to −0.02% and on full frame it reaches +0.44% so it is practically zero in the first case, imperceptible in real-life photos in the second case.
