10. Autofocus

The autofocus of the tested lens is silent and flash-quick. In the majority of cases running through the whole distance scale and confirming the focus took no more than 0.3 of a second. It is an excellent result which, additionally, doesn’t depend on lighting conditions.

What’s more, we haven’t noticed any problems with the autofocus accuracy, either in studio or during outdoor shooting. No matter what body the lens was attached to, the focus was always set in a proper place.

We haven’t noticed any front or back focus either. The photo below shows the only slight problem we caught: at 70 mm, with the lens attached to the EOS 50D, the depth of field slightly moved toward the longer distances. Still all such shifts could be readjusted with microregulation which value never exceeded 5 units.
