Cons: Bokeh fringeing wide open
Pros: Sharpness, contrast, AF, bokeh, resistance fo flare, price
Summary: A real gem. Trounces my old Nikkor 85/1.4D, and is sharper in the centre (where it counts for portraits) than the new 'G' lens. Most importantly, the AF is quick and reliable, and works commendably well in low light.

Cons: Price. Poor AF accuracy, hunts a lot. Weighs a ton.
Pros: VERY sharp from f/2.0 onwards. Nice focal length for general use.
Summary: I love the optical quality but I hate the AF on this thing. The AF is just unreliable and I feel I have been cheated. If I have to use MF to get sharp shots, I might as well have bought the Samyang for a third of the price I paid.

Price: 800 euro
User profile: Semipro
Cons: Longitudal CA
Pros: Fast, consistent and accurate AF, very sharp at all apertures (at least in the center of the frame, I don't mind the lack of sharpness in the corners wide open), very good contrast wide open, beautiful bokeh.
Summary: I have used this and both Nikkor 85mm 1.4's and I find this at least as good as the new 1.4G and far superior to 1.4D. AF is faster in Sigma

Price: $300 (ebay
User profile: Semipro
Cons: -color fringing at bigger apertures. f1.4-f3.5 -disappointing corner to corner performance on full frame (better on crop sensors) -AF speed is a bit slower due to heavy glass
Pros: -superb image quality at center -full frame lens -usable f1.4 -very good build quality -nicely damped ring, FTM -HSM is accurate to focus, very quiet -lens hood is powdercoated -77mm filter (shares filters with my 17-40L )
Summary: a very good portrait lens but costs less than the nikon or canon equivalent. aperture f1.4 is great for low light, and great for a soft look for portraits
