Hoya is a popular manufacturer for photographers since it makes all kinds of photographic accessories. It also has a very wide range of UV filters. The Pro 1 series is optimized to work with digital cameras (but not only). The multi-layer coatings assure better water and dirt resistance and the narrow ring reduced vignetting in wide-angle shots.

Summary:

Essentially the equal of its Hoya HMC sibling! Even though the Pro 1 version costs twice as much as the HMC model, don’t think you have overpaid for this filter. Wide-angle lens owners will appreciate having this kind of filter. According to the manufacturers, the Pro 1 filters are easier to clean and are more resistant to outside conditions. We, however, weren’t able to test these claims.
