1. Introduction

When it comes to all-purpose lenses the Four Thirds system offers a really interesting selection indeed. In our tests we have had so far: the cheapest “kit” with the 14-42 mm range and an expensive 12-60 mm model equipped with an SWD motor. We also managed to test a Leica 14-50 mm OIS. By and large every of these devices is an interesting suggestion. The plastic “kit” offers such a good price/quality ratio that it sells like hot cakes with amateur E-410 and E-520 reflex cameras. The 12-60 mm model is something for people who don’t want to compromise – it has everything you can demand from an equipment of this kind. Between them you can find another device, also very liked and praised – it’s an Olympus ZD 14-54 mm f/2.8-3.5. Being almost twice cheaper than the 12-60 mm and three times as expensive as the “kit” it is supposed to feature optical properties not worse than its more expensive cousin.

After a very good result of the ZD 12-60 mm in our test we checked with even greater interest how the ZD 14-54 mm f/2.8-3.5 fared.

The lens was lent for the tests by the Fotozakupy.pl shop.

Information about our review method can be read in our article “How do we test lenses?"
