Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 75 mm f/1.8 ED

1. Introduction

The Olympus Micro 4/3 system was launched in June 2009. Along with the first camera we were also presented with the first fixed-focus lens of that system, the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 17 mm f/2.8. At that moment I hoped that, after a short period of time, we would be able to see next interesting launches of lenses, produced by that company. Unfortunately Olympus focused on cheap zoom lenses instead. While it was fully understandable from the point of view of company’s strategy, it could make a fan of optics unsatisfied – especially when you are fully aware that Olympus is able to produce really excellent lenses.

I had to wait two full years to see new lens products of this company which could make my heart beat faster. In June 2011 two very well-made instruments were presented to the public: the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 45 mm f/1.8 and the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 12 mm f/2.0 ED. In May 2012 that interesting series was enlarged by the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 75 mm f/1.8 ED. Today it is my greatest pleasure to present the full test of that beautiful, classically-looking lens – enjoy your lecture!.

The publication of the results of our test was possible courtesy of  Olympus Poland which kindly lent us the necessary equipment.
