7. Coma, astigmatism and bokeh

Coma is corrected well. The image of a diode, put in one frame corner is only slightly disfigured – an effect difficult to notice at first glance. No reservations so far.

When it comes to the astigmatism the situation is a bit worse – we can notice it near the maximum relative aperture and by f/4.0. An average difference between horizontal and vertical MTF50 function values amounts to 8%. This value is perhaps not high but it isn’t negligible either.

How do fuzzy areas look like? You can try and assess them glancing at photos of a defocused diode, posted below. The light in the circle is quite evenly spread. Lighter and darker rings do appear but they aren’t very intensive. What’s more the shape of the aperture is nice, quite close to a regular circle.
