Pros:
  • excellent image quality in the frame centre,
  • good image quality on the edge of the APS-C/DX sensor,
  • slight longitudinal chromatic aberration,
  • negligible lateral chromatic aberration,
  • moderate distortion,
  • small coma in the corners of the APS-C/DX sensor,
  • negligible astigmatism,
  • not very bothersome vignetting on the APS-C/DX,
  • silent and quick autofocus.

Cons:

  • in our opinion there is too much plastics and slacks in the casing are too pronounced,
  • distinct coma in the corners of full frame,
  • high vignetting on full frame.

After the test our impressions concerning the Nikkor AF-S 24 mm f/1.8G ED are very positive. It seems to be the best instrument out of all full frame f/1.8 Nikkors we’ve tested so far, even outperforming the Nikkor AF-S 20 mm f/1.8G ED, a lens we praised so much. If you add to that the fact that out of the whole line-up of Sigmas Art the Sigma A 24 mm f/1.4 DG HSM is the weakest, the Nikkor AF-S 24 mm f/1.8G ED becomes all of a sudden a very interesting option, fully recommendable from our point of view.
