1. Introduction

Not so long ago the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 12–50 mm f/3.5–6.3 ED EZ and the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 14–150 mm f/4.0–5.6 ED II remained the most universal zoom lenses in the Olympus line-up. The former lacked a bit of aperture fastness and about a dozen-several dozen millimeters at its longer end, the latter could do with a bit wider angle of view. During the Photokina 2016 Olympus caught up by presenting a very versatile lens with great fastness which, additionally, belonged to the PRO line so was supposed to have a solid optical and mechanical construction, weather-sealed and equipped with optical image stabilization. We mean here of course the M.Zuiko ED 12–100 mm f/4 IS PRO.
