1. Introduction

During the Photokina 2016 fair two new Samyang lenses were shown to the public, both belonging to a completely new series called Premium. These were two full frame models designed for reflex cameras, the first with the 14 mm focal length and f/2.4 aperture, the second as fast as f/1.2, with the 85 mm focal length. You could already find similar instruments in the line-up of that producer but a tad slower – we think here about the 2.8/14 and the 1.4/85. The new lenses featured not only a faster aperture but also were supposed to be characterized by high quality and superior craftsmanship, with contacts available in the Canon mount version as well. Taking into account these noticeable changes we were very curious about the performance of new Samyangs.

Lately, courtesy of the Foto Technika company, the official Samyang distributor in Poland, we hav e been given an opportunity to test the Samyang 85 mm f/1.2 Premium. Our impressions and conclusions can be found below – enjoy your lecture!
