14 April 2017
Arkadiusz Olech

11. Summary

Pros:

  • Solid and stylish casing,
  • Brilliant image quality in the frame centre,
  • Sensational image quality on the edge of APS-C sensor,
  • Sensational image quality on the edge of full frame,
  • Lack of spherical aberration problems,
  • Practically zero lateral chromatic aberration,
  • Imperceptible distortion,
  • Excellent coma correction,
  • Slight astigmatism,
  • Low vignetting on the APS-C.DX sensor,
  • Silent and accurate autofocus.

Cons:

  • Noticeable vignetting at the maximum relative aperture and on full frame,
  • A tad too high longitudinal chromatic aberration.
The cult Canon EF 135 mm f2L USM in the frame centre was able to reach 43.2 lpmm at most. The Sigma A 135 mm f/1.8 DG HSM reached 44.1 lpmm on the edge of full frame, when wide open. Do I have to say anything more? Once again we award the Sigma our „Editor’s Choice of Lenstip.com” badge.
