The official distortion result on full frame amounts to just −0.38%. If you dealt here with a wide angle lens it would be something praiseworthy. It would – if only it wasn’t a result of moustache distortion. That value of −0.38% is achieved by averaging out distortion across the frame. One glance at the photos below allows you to notice that lines near the edge of the frame bend in the opposite direction. That effect is confirmed by additional measurements. If, in order to determine distortion level on full frame, you use not the whole area of the image but just its 1:1 fragment, the result will increase to −1.06%. Still it should be called a low value.

Moustache distortion is also a reason why the value of distortion on the APS-C sensor is higher than on full frame. In the case of the smaller detector we got a result of −0.77%. The fact that the APS-C sensor cuts out an area free of moustache deformations so you deal here with just classic barrel distortion of low intensity is some consolation.
