SainSonic Kamlan 50 mm f/1.1

15 October 2018

10. Focusing

In the case of the Kamlan 1.1/50 you set the focus with the manual ring, as wide as 19 mm, which surface is covered by metal ribbing; below the ribs you see a distance scale expressed in feet and meters. Running through the whole distance range needs a turn through an angle of 180 degrees, a very sensible value taking all the parameters into account. No reservations here.

SainSonic Kamlan 50 mm f/1.1 - Focusing

As it befits a good manual device, the Kamlan also features a depth of field scale with markings by f/4, f/8 and f/16. With such a great aperture fastness we would wish it had one more marking for a value below f/4.0.
