The Samyang 35 mm f/1.2 ED AS UMC CS is equipped with a manual focus ring with a distance scale expressed in meters and feet. The ring moves smoothly and with the right resistance. Running through the whole distance range takes a turn through an angle of about 120 degrees. That value is a bit too small for a good quality manual lens. Although mirrorless cameras the tested lens is designed for have focus peaking functionality, a great help for any photographer, the working range of, say, 180-200 degrees would be a far better idea.
Unfortunately the producer didn’t decide to put any depth of field scale on the barrel. It is not the right decision in the case of a manual lens, especially one with a completely manual focus ring, not a focus-by-wire construction in which case the speed of your turning influences its range.
