Pros

sensational image quality in the frame centre at 15 mm focal length,
good image quality in the frame centre at 28 mm,
sensible image quality on the edge of the frame in the 15–28 mm range,
negligible longitudinal chromatic aberration,
moderate lateral chromatic aberration,
slight astigmatism,
silent and quick autofocus.

Cons:

weak image quality at 45 mm,
very high distortion level for RAW files,
poor performance against bright light,
very high vignetting for RAW files at 15 mm,
unpleasant appearance of out-of-focus areas.

The official price of the Fujinon XC 15–45 mm f/3.5–5.6 OIS PZ reaches $300 and it is a good question whether or not you should pay so much for this lens. Still you have to be aware of the fact that when you buy this lens as a part of a kit with a camera it costs you far less - just about $100 compared to the price of the body alone. We think the tested Fujinon is definitely worth such an amount of money if only for its performance in the 15-28 mm range. What’s more, an angle of view of 87 degrees is definitely a unique feature in a kit lens and something worth your attention.
