Nikon Nikkor Z 85 mm f/1.8 S

9. Ghosting and flares

The Nikkor's Z 1.8/85 S performance against bright light can be called sensible. Near the maximum relative aperture there are almost no problems at all but on stopping down the chances to catch ghosting and flares increase, especially when the sun is positioned right outside the frame corner. A noticeable contrast decrease of the photos might also be an issue to some extend.

Still, if you compare the tested lens to the Nikkor AF-S 85 mm f/1.8G you have to admit the improvement is very distinct. When you stack up the tested lens against the Sony FE 1.8/85 and the Tamron 1.8/85 VC the performance in this category seems to be quite sensible.
