1. Introduction

In July 2019 Sigma showed their first fixed focal length C line lens (C meaning Contemporary) designed for full frame mirrorless cameras produced by Sony, Sigma, and Panasonic. The launch was quite untypical because we were shown the C 45 mm f/2.8 DG DN model – it stuck out with its unusual parameters, and a very original barrel, mostly made of metal.

On 1 December 2020 we found out that all these features were going to characterize the whole line of Contemporary primes – its three next lenses, the 3.5/24, the 2/35, and the 2/65, were similar, with the same high build quality and casings dominated by metal parts. The following chart allows you to compare all lenses, presented so far.

At the beginning of September 2021 we found out that it wasn't Sigma's last word, as they were going to launch the C 24 mm f/2 DG DN and the C 90 mm f/2.8 DG DN models so a wide angle lens with a sensible aperture fastness, and a small, handy portrait lens. The launches again seemed to be very interesting and original.
