1. Introduction

For some time the only telephoto 135 mm lens equipped with autofocus you could find in the Sony FE system – we mean here the Sony FE 135 mm f/1.8 GM model, tested by us not so long ago. It is a very fine lens both optically and mechanically, but its main problem is the price tag, exceeding $2000.

In such a situation most of amateur photographers would look for something third-party producers might offer; unfortunately in this segment the choice used to be virtually null. The situation changed in January 2022 when the Samyang AF 135 mm f/1.8 FE was released. It's a lens twice cheaper than the Sony model, costing almost $1000, but every potential buyer might ask what you get for that. Is this lens worth buying? I hope our test will answer this question and of course many more – enjoy your reading!
