Pros: Perfect combination of size, weight and cost - the very essence of M4/3
Summary: IMO this lens is the perfect example of why I use M4/3 - it\'s small, lightweight and sharp corner to corner wide open, It is my \'standard\' lens and combined with a 75mm f1.8 for extra \'reach\' and shallow DoF covers 99% of my photography. The only problem is that I have to keep swapping it between my E-M1 Mk II and Pen F bodies !! I still have the 12-40mm f2.8 that came with my original E-M1, but never use it now. If I really NEED a wider aperture in this focal length range there is already a good selection at f/1.7 or f/1.8, although I feel both manufacturers have missed a significant gap in the market by not developing a 45mm f/1.4 PRO quality lens (The f/1.2 lenses are too big, heavy and expensive, while the IQ of the 45mm f/1.8 above f/4.0 confines it to portraiture and similar applications)

Summary: I love this lens! I hate this lens. OK,OK I\'ll tell you what I mean. The lens is perfect and does its job perfectly. So you might ask why I also hate it? It\'s because the focal range that I use this lens for turns out more like snapshots. Not in quality I mind you, but just the focal length. It\'s almost like a smartphone\'s focal length. Now, when I go anywhere important; on vacation; doing a paid job, or anything that I want to make sure is perfect, I bring this lens. I went to Machu Picchu in Peru, South America ( a once in a lifetime trip) and brought all my lenses in a 18L backpack. I used only this lens. I couldn\'t do my photography without it!

Cons: Maximum f4; distortion from 12 till 17mm; vignetting at maximum aperture (there is no DxO module yet)
Pros: Constant aperture, close focus, razor sharp, light weight, solid build, sensible zoom of 12-45mm (24-90mm equiv).
Summary: Good \'go anywhere and everywhere\' companion for my OM-D EM1-ii. It is a light, smallish and versatile lens with constant aperture that delivers very sharp pictures from corner to corner. F4 might seem limiting; I got it to replace my d.zuiko 12-60 which broke down and which I mostly used at minimum f4 anyway. Close focus one can still get nice buttery backgrounds (I use brighter primes for dedicated work). Only a real shame that these MFT lenses all rely on software correction of optical problems.
