1. Introduction

Nowadays, when it comes to the number of Micro 4/3 mount lenses with the focal length equivalent of 85-90 mm you are really spoilt for choice. Only the Panasonic company have been selling two lenses co-manufactured with Leica. We think here about a fast portrait lens, the Leica DG Nocticron 42.5 mm f/1.2 Asph. P.O.I.S. and the Leica DG Macro-Elmarit 45 mm f/2.8 ASPH. M.O.I.S. designed for macro photography. Like all Leica brand name products both those devices are hardly cheap. Fortunately those with less thick wallets might find the line-up of Olympus more palatable, with such well-made lenses as the M.Zuiko Digital 45 mm f/1.8. If you like a really fast lenses, aperture-wise, you can also get interested in the Voigtlander Nokton 42.5 mm f/0.95.

Fortunately Panasonic understood that offering just two expensive instruments, even with the prestigious Leica logo, is not a good idea; after a while they decided to launch their own sensibly priced portrait lens. In February 2015 they showed the Panasonic G 42.5 mm f/1.7 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. and several months later it hit the shelves in Poland.

Now, courtesy of Panasonic Poland, we’ve been lent one specimen and we are able to present you the full test of that lens.
