Cons: No IS, so not ideal as a general purpose telephoto. 60mm focal length doesn't allow very much distance between a macro subject and the lens.
Pros: Top optical quality, beautifully built, compact: a lovely little lens
Summary: I bought this first for an APS-C camera, but have since bought the EF 100 IS macro, principally to address the two issues noted above: no IS, and for a greater distance to a macro subject.

Cons: no AF-limiter; needs f/3.2 - f/4 to reach its full potential
Pros: build quality; silent AF; optical quite good - but overrated imho; color rendering; contrast; nice buttery bokeh; internal focusing
Summary: Simply a good macro lens.

Cons: back element gap, therefore dust problems by lens change without care
Pros: optical stellar, excact AF, for a macro very fast, focus limiter not necessary, useable for people
Summary: on aps-c my standard macro, people and landscape lens, best value

Cons: Slow focusing, but this is a macro lens! You have to insert the lens in the eye of the fly at 1:1
Pros: Really sharp wide open and 1:1. Great USM, Great build quality (better than 17-55 IS). Lack of CA or distortions. Affordable price.
Summary: Very good lens, with affordable price. Highly recommended if you are introducing in macro world.

Cons: Auto focus is slower than my EFs 10-22mm vignet at widest apperture By the focal length, it's hard to capture flying insect
Pros: sharp, sharp, sharp and sharp :D compact and sturdy dan value for the money no distortion bokeh is so creamy, this the only EFs lens that have 8 (eight) circular blades, bravo! the colour rendering is decent
Summary: for the one that no need to upgrade to FF body, this lens is for you. personally i recommended

Cons: Some focus hunting with 40D (never observed with 20D), harsh vignetting at f2.8 and infinity (not in macro "mode"). A little bit prone to flares just with hood, but hood not really effective. Use your hand to shield the sun.
Pros: Ultra sharp lens, no distortions, very low chromatic aberrations (longitudinal and lateral) Compact, lightweight and sturdy. No dust sucker (but beware: the back element leaves a gap where dust might find it's way into the lens).
Summary: For me a walk around lens with an equiv focal length of 100mm. No zoom at all but macro capability is a deliberation quite as good as a zoom. The overall image quality is stellar. Bought as my first lens 5 years ago - still glad to have access to such a dream lens.

Cons: sporadic focus hunting, 52mm filter diameter, no focus range limiter
Pros: extremely sharp even at 1:1, silent and fast focus, compact, decent build quality, good value for money
Summary: It's a great multi-purpose lens I can recommend. It uses all your megapixels.
