1. Introduction

In August 2005 Canon organized a doubly interesting premiere - they released the Canon EOS 5D, a camera which now you should describe as ‘cult’. Along that instrument they presented the Canon EF 24-105 mm f/4L IS USM which combined a universal range of focal length, a sensible aperture fastness, a very good image quality ensured by an image stabilizing unit and an ultrasonic autofocus motor.

From that time the line-up of universal Canon zooms as fast as near f/4.0 has been enlarged noticeably. We’ve seen launches of such devices as the Canon EF 24-70 mm f/4L IS USM and the cheaper Canon EF 24-105 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM. Despite that fact Canon considered 11 years a stretch of time long enough to withdraw their lens from the market and in August 2016 they presented its successor, the Canon EF 24-105 mm f/4L IS II USM.
