Cons: No cons at all! If someone found them, it is because they haven't found the way to use it.
Pros: there is no any other lens for canon EOS for ultra macro photography! f2.8 aperture is very creative! I use it for insects (1:1-3:1). If You want to have quality images at (4:1-5:1) You should close to f5.6 any less. As for me f8.0 is perfect. I shoot insects and have nice pics, using macro flash ring without any macro focusing rails. I bought them, but do not use them.
Summary: Practice gives You experience! Perfect lens!

Cons: Difficult to use (needs a lot of practise), very small DOF, expensive with flash and special rail, no AF (but this is not so necessary for macro) and loss of sharpness from lifesize 4:1
Pros: Incredible optic performance, very sturdy, lifesize 5(!!!):1, can be used for sientific work, nice colours, up to 3:1 extremly sharp and detailled.
Summary: For a real macro-freak the very best choice, but very expensive with accesorys (about 1800€), difficult to handle and should be used only by very experienced fotografers
