Cons: Very few! Just don\'t bother with the suggested lens hood - better and cheaper alternatives available. Manual focusing ring a little thin - as often with Canon.
Pros: Small, light, compact and a top optical performer. You could pay ten times more and not get anywhere ten times better results. It\'s a real gem.
Summary: What a lens! Ideal for travel photography and situations where assured results count a lot. It\'s an STM version, meaning \'Superb Tiny Marvel\' in my book. Worth every penny and should be on savvy buyers\' shopping lists.

Cons: Build is far away from L but much better than the 1.8/50 II - so it's good enough for normal usage -
Pros: very compact - good usage for street photography - f 2.8 is fully usable but best results with f5.6, autofocus is quick,exact and nearly quiet
Summary: This lens is a "always on the camera" lens - it's wide enough for taking pics of landscapes, groups of people and you can go rather close with it too - it's my new Allrounder --- on my 5DII I can work undercover because it is so so unspectacular - which works for me! I think if I had to choose to take only one lens with me on trip = it would for sure be this one. I sometimes would wish it had f2.0 but that's the price to keep it small, cheap and good.

Cons: - Even STM is used, there is still motor sound in Video if you use AF. So you have to use MF anyway. - Sometime manual focus ring cannot be operated even I use MF switch and need to switch back to AF, turn the ring, switch back to MF again so that the manual focusing can be used.
Pros: Sharp wide open, small and low price.
