Cons: You know - if you seek for a all-around lens, there's allways are some tradeoffs. And that's normal.
Pros: Very usable focal length range, parfocal, fixed F4 (~T4,5), no changes in length by zooming, Not rotating front element. Qute good optical quality for a sub-500 lens (if you go to dxomark and take the usual contender -Sony Zeiss 16-70 F4 / SEL1670Z, you see not very much better results, shorter focal reach and twice the price). If you are interested in video, the power zoom is a good thing. For photo, sometimes, a manual (not motor-driven) focus and zoom would be better, but... but ok. You can't have anything.
Summary: I would say, the best Sony's all-arounder lens for your aps-c e-mount body in the sub-500€ class. OK, you can go for those new GM series lenses - w/o doubt, they are of superrior quality an full stop+ faster, but the price range is completly differrent. So - if you want a quite universal lens for photo and video, just go for it. Better than kit lenses, and no need to break the bank. For specific purposes you can allways buy dirt-cheap, but optically good manual primes. (I have few former USSR and German-oldies).
