The mirrorless Fujifilm X system was launched in 2012 with the release of the Fujifilm X-Pro camera along with three fixed-focus lenses. Even the same year a zoom lens designed for that system was shown as well; it was the Fujinon XF 18–55 mm f/2.8–4 OIS. Almost from the very beginning Fuji offered a good, versatile device with a sensible aperture fastness and image stabilization.
In June 2023 also the cheaper kit Fujinon XC 16-50 mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS appeared on the market, an instrument noticeably slower and cheaper, an ideal addition to different Fuji cameras.
In the following years the line-up of universal X system zooms have been successfully enlarged. In January 2015 the Fujinon XF 16-55 mm f/2.8 R LM WR was launched, three years later we saw the Fujinon XC 15-45 mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS PZ with a powerzoom mechanism. In July 2019 the Fujinon XF 16-80 mm f/4 R OIS WR was launched, and in 2024 the company started to refresh their oldest products. As a result in May 2024 they showed the successor of the oldest zoom lens in the X system, namely the Fujinon XF 16-50 mm f/2.8-4.8 R LM WR. Additionally in October 2024 we were shown another version of the constant f/2.8 aperture, the Fujinon XF 16-55 mm f/2.8 R LM WR II.
