Cons: not clear in low light, after the picture is taken and i try to zoom in the clarity falls off fast. i would not recommend this lense to any one.
Pros: i can't think on any.
Summary: i have used pentax slr cameras only, i started back in 1976 and have been totally happy till i atached this to my K20D.

Cons: Only f.4...
Pros: Very confortable range, quickshift very appreciable. Very sharp beginning at 17mm. Very silent too thanks to SDM.
Summary: Wonderful trans-standard lens, that would not leave my bag for any reason.

Cons: Cheap build quality
Pros: Price
Summary: Only an average lens. Consider the sigma equivalent as an alternative - useful wider aperture at 17mm. Oh and remember Lance B will "boost" anything Pentax.

Cons: Inability to focus in low contrast areas. Very poor build quality.
Pros: Good sharpness. Nice colours. Good contrast.
Summary: I purchased this lens used for £270, So I thought I got good value for money. I was wrong, although the image quality was good, centre and edge. Colour and contrast was also nice. The real problems with this lens are build quality and its inability to focus in areas of low contrast, where other lenses do. The front element extends on a trombone, this is very wobbly, I mean 2mm+ of play in here, this gets worse when you attach a filter and the lens hood, its unnerving. Also if you then turn the lens upsidedown, so the serial number is facing up and zoom from 17mm the zoom will stick. I have tried this on two different 17-70's and both were the same. I sent mine in for repair, it had to go off to Germany as there is no Pentax UK service any more. Parts were replaced, but this fault remained. This is just unacceptable for a lens costing over £500 new. I think Pentax ne Hoya need to take a step back and ask the question "Do we realy want to be in the DSLR/Lens business?"

Cons: Bot quite as sharp as I would like at the long end, but still a very good performance and comparable with any other zoom in this range.
Pros: A great all purpose zoom. Overall IQ is very good to excellent and the zoom range almost perfect. Excellent build quality and nice handling.
Summary: Highly recommended all purpose zoom.
