Cons: None to speak of. Does not come with a tripod collar, but really not needed.

Pros: Much lighter, smaller and cheaper more compact than the f/2.8 version. Very well constructed too. VERY good VR. A must own zoom.

Summary: Much lighter, smaller and cheaper more compact than the f/2.8 version. Very well constructed too. VERY good VR. A must own zoom. It delivers superb results.

    Cons: None

Pros: Fast accurate AF and works very well with TC14EII Sharp throughout the range at f/4 right to FF corners by f/5.6 Much lighter than f/2.8 versions which is ideal for Airline travel and encourages you to take it everywhere Nice smooth bokeh Minimal focus breathing Really good VR, makes up for the 1 stop loss

Summary: Originally was after the 70-200 f/2.8 VRII but the focus breathing was a real deal breaker. Was not excited about an f/4 version until I used it, now one of my favorite lenses. I use it mostly on D800E and sometimes on D7200. It is the perfect size/weight and is always in my bag. The image quality is so good wide open and at f/5.6 I very rarely shut down further. Some people complain about the price but I think for the image quality you get it is good value. Light weight, sharp, thousand dollars cheaper than the latest 2.8 version. Highly Recommended.

Cons: Sunstars are not really great IMO.

Pros: Stellar performance on the D800, good contrast, quite smooth bokeh for a f4, well controlled CA, excellent handling and usability, perfectly damped, seems to be quite solidly built, latest VR-Tech (It works great), light and small enough to carry around for a while, low flare, absolutely loveable. It gives a warmer colour toning than other (older) Nikkor lenses I've used. This lens is a pure joy to use.

Summary: A very convenient focal-length in a wonderful package. I'm extremely happy with it! Highly recommended!

Cons: Not f/2.8 and that's about it. Price is high but...

Pros: Sharp at full open aperture throughout its entire zoom range, even at its max of 200mm. Autofocus is quick. Autofocus accuracy is, i think, slightly better than its bigger brother, the 70-200 f/2.8. VR is surprisingly excellent. Smaller and lighter than the f/2.8, and with a smaller filter size.

Summary: I've been using it mainly for indoor stage performances under 'artificial' lighting, and only sometimes miss the extra stop that an f/2.8 lens provides. It is capable of producing very sharp images under difficult lighting. Makes pleasing pictures even with strong back lighting in the frame. Enjoyable to use. Very good lens in my opinion.
