Graphs, like the one below, we would like to see as often as possible. It is hard to accuse of anything the quality of image achieved by Nikkor 2.8/105 VR both in the centre of the frame and in the edge.

In the centre we have everything we should expect from such an expensive instrument. What is important, we have a very good behaviour for the wide-open lens, where the noted at the RAW values of the MTF50 function touch a very high level of 40 lpmm. After a slight stop down that level is easily exceeded and very close to the records (over 44 lpmm) for the f/5.6.

At the edge of the frame we will not find any reason for complain either. Being stubborn and trying to find something to complain, the purists would expect a little better MTF levels for the f/2.8 and f/4.0 stops.
