1. Introduction

The Pentax company doesn’t glut the market with their lenses; still if they launch any novelties, these are more often than not very interesting optical devices with quite untypical parameters. The Pentax HD DA 20–40 mm f/2.8–4.0 ED Limited DC WR was an example of such practice. It was launched in November 2013; its narrow focal range, average aperture fastness and being a part of the famous Limited series seem to promise you very good optical properties. Add to that a solid, metal casing which is sealed and you shouldn’t be surprised that owners of Pentax reflex cameras waited with curiosity when the first specimens of that lens hit the shelves.
