Cons: All plastic build will not please everyone. Some vignetting at 14mm wide open, but quickly removed by stopping down. Large standard lens hood spoils compactness.
Pros: Tack sharp at sweet spot points, usually from f5.6-f8; pretty good wide open too. Small, lightweight, go-anywhere type of lens. Ideal to match with, say, a 35-100mm companion or others of choice.
Summary: When people say \'kit lens\' you can usually expect groans - but this lens changes the pattern completely, is much underrated, and worth all of the price. In short, it\'s a gem! You can certainly pay twice the price for an alternative and not gain twice the quality of results. It\'s unbeatable as a valued travel companion, producing results of high quality time after time. This version uses 46mm filters not the 52mm ones of earlier models, as a distinguishing mark. As others might say \'It\'s a no-brainer. Just buy it.\'
