Cons: Optics are not so good...decent in the center, but weak on the edges. Comparing this G lens to the 24-70mm GM, the GM wins everywhere. The GM was considered weak at 70mm, but it still beat this G lens there. The difference is more on the edges/corners. Not that the GM is so great, but this G lens is soft in the corners.
Pros: The zoom functions fine. Autofocus is good. In truth, I\'m not using this as a sports lens looking for fast focusing ability.
Summary: You get what you pay for. The original GM is better than this lens, but the new GM II and the new 20-70mm G lens are even better choices. If you really need the extra range on the long end, I\'d suggest the new 70-200mm GM II or the Sigma 35-150mm
