Personally, I am very glad Sigma decided to continue their launches in the segment of f/1.4 lenses designed for sensors smaller than full frame. The trio of previous models were very well-put-together and they all fared in our tests exceedingly well. We also know that they gained a lot of happy, satisfied users. Our first impressions after handling the C 23 mm f/1.4 DC DN model are also very positive; they seem to suggest that this lens will fit in this group without any problems and it won't put them all to shame with a weaker performance. I do hope that the final specimen of the lens will be sent to us as well so we can test it more thoroughly.
The suggested retail price of the new Sigma amounts to $499. It's a bit more than the prices of its predecessors but in an era of rampant inflation nobody should be surprised by that. However, if the lens is as good as our first impressions suggest it might be, the price will be more than justified.
