Cons: 1) Optical quality at wide open apertures (f1.4-2.2) is not sufficient for 7R bodies if you need the maximum in terms of resolution 2) No switches or buttons if you prefer to have these

Pros: 1) Lightweight f1.4 lens 2) Form factor as the G-Master: good handling, not too long, not too heavy 3) Good price/performance ratio 4) Up until 33 MP: a solid performer, peak performance at f4 5) Nice look to the images 6) Nearly no focus breathing makes it a very attractive hybrid lens 7) Well balanced with the body: can more easily be used to shoot handheld video 8) AF work great, very reliable and fast – in video usage, very smooth focus transitions 9) Dampening on the MF ring is excellent, very easy to use for MF 10) 67mm filter thread: Tamron users will be happy to use their filters for this one, too! 11) Complete weather sealing (at a lower price as the 35/1.8 by Sony and the 35/2 by Sigma which both are not fully sealed!)

Summary: There are reasons why this is one of the cheaper 1.4 options and that is mainly because wide open the lens doesn\'t perform stellar in terms of resolution if you are on a high-resolution A7R camera body. I think it comes down to your expectations: If you are looking for a 35/1.4 with weather sealing, good video capabilities, a decent price and decent image quality, you can have fun shooting this Samyang. However, it is not a lens to zoom in by 500% and have everything perfect. Nevertheless: It takes nice images and, personally, I like to use it because it sits in a place where there is not a lot of choice in the Sony system.
