Nikon Nikkor AF-S 24-120 mm f/4G ED VR

10. Autofocus

The Nikkor AF-S 24–120 mm f/4G ED VR is equipped with an ultrasonic autofocus motor (SWM). The practically noiseless work can convince you of it very easily. It would also be difficult to find any fault with the speed. Running through the whole scale, no matter from what end, takes about 0.7 of a second which is certainly a good result.

When it comes to the accuracy of the mechanism there are no reasons to complain. The number of misses in studio conditions reached 3% so it was insignificant.

The lens didn’t show any back or front focus tendencies on both bodies (the D200 and the D3x) to which we attached it during our test. The crops below show it very well.
