Astigmatism, understood as an average difference between vertical and horizontal MTF50 function values, amounted to 9%. It is a moderate value and the 70 mm focal length contributes the most to it; at that place, near the maximum relative aperture, the aberration was felt most keenly.

In the photos shown below you see out-of-focus circles of light we got with the help of the tested Nikkor. They look sensibly well; the only thing that might make you a bit worried is a lighter rim on edges of the circles and a noticeable influence of mechanical vignetting.
