Chromatic aberration

Photos below show that the Sigma A 14-24 mm f/2.8 DG DN doesn't feature any significant problems with longitudinal chromatic aberration. Even at the maximum relative aperture it would be difficult to notice any traces of colouring in out-of-focus areas – it means that aberration is corrected very well.

In similarly positive terms you can describe the correction of lateral chromatic aberration; the graphs below show its levels respectively on the edge of the APS-C sensor and on the edge of full frame.

The highest results can be noticed at 19 mm but even there they never exceed 0.06%. It means that, at the majority of focal lengths and apertures, lateral chromatic aberration is very low and you might experience a lot of problems if you want to observe even the slightest trace of it in real life photos. It is a performance very similar to that of the reflex camera Sigma in which case the aberration didn't exceed 0.05%. Both lenses deal with lateral chromatic aberration in an exemplary manner and, with such parameters, it is really something impressive and praiseworthy.

Spherical aberration

First photos of this chapter show a slight 'focus shift' effect because, as you pass from f/2.8 to f/4.0, depth of field moves slightly toward smaller distances. One glance at circles of light we got before and after the focus and it's obvious that the intensity of their outer rim differs a lot. Both these features suggest that, at least at longer focal lengths, spherical aberration hasn't been corrected perfectly well.
